Sailing Portishead to Swansea, with our cat Jess

20th June 2016 - Last minute checks on the Yacht!!

21st June 2016 4 days before we set sail The skipper has bought me a life jacket This is to save my life if I fall into the sea But it is bright red!!! Doesn't the skipper know that fishermen use bright coloured lures to attract the fish!! I will be a sitting duck/cat for any hungry fish out there. Hopefullly if I do go overboard the red will quickly change to a lighter shade of brown!! And more to the point I do hope the skipper rescues me before the fish find me. Of course !! I am not going to jump off, life onboard is so good.

23rd June 2016 Just on board checking creature comforts, Self cleaning litter tray!! Self replenishing food bowls!! Plenty of sleeping berths with fantastic sea views, I feel such a lucky special yachts cat, Two days to go now, what can possibly go wrong!!

24th June 2016 Had a bath tonight, could do with a blow dry! All ready for skipper to take me back onboard.

24th June 2016 On board now just relaxing with the skippers wife, the skipper is doing our passage plan for tomorrow.

25th June 2016 I'm ready. Morning of the big sail. Got my new life jacket on, it won't save my life unless I am wearing it. Ready for our big adventure.

25th June 2016 Oh heck, no one said the yacht tilts, I slipped from one side to the other..so I found a port hole down below and fell asleep and when I woke up we were moored in Penarth. Oh blow I missed the big waves and strong winds! Oh gosh the skipper has sunburnt his face again. Skipper tells me outside Cardiff Barage, a fender came adrift, so skipper and wife practised Cat over Board and retrieved the overboard fender...now thats good thinking, puts my mind at ease though I aint going to jump ship life's too good onboard. Lets see what we do tomorrow.

26th June 2016 Having a lazy day on deck in Penarth Marina. Guarding the boat whilst the skippers have gone to watch extreme sailing in Cardiff Bay. Hope they don't get any ideas. Which is the competent crew book!!

28th June 2016 Monday Morning of sail,, off to Swansea today,, weather is good at mo,, though feeling a little bit under the weather,,, more to follow,,

28th June 2016 We had a lovely sail out of Penarth, sun was shining,, until we reached Aberthaw,, then we had wind over tide,, and had to drop the sails,, and motor on to Swansea,, I found myself a cubby-hole in the forward bunk, to sleep,, when I returned from the land of nod,, we were in Swansea breakwater,, both skippers were wet through,,apparently, it got quite choppy out there,,

28th June 2016 Tuesday morning,, and safe in Swansea Marina,, rain forcast all day today,, bit wet on deck,, having a lazy day, ,,while skippers make plans for sail to Milford Haven,,my job is to keep an eye on the compass

28th June 2016 I wish I had remembered my fishing net,,

29th June 2016 The skipper says the weather is against us,, so we'll be staying in Swansea for a few days,, apparently there is an Air show this weekend,,, bit ironic though,, we're in Swansea,, but I can't see any swans,,,

1st July 2016 Friday morning,, still in Swansea.. And I've actually met a Swan,, he wasn't happy to see me,,

1st July 2016 I have been cleaning the windows today!! Seen some Mullet in the water too. I am enjoying basking in the sunshine, though it is very windy too, the yacht rocks me to sleep.

1st July 2016 Skipper & his wife gone to the air show, I am guarding the yacht & sleeping mostly.

5th July 2016 Back in Penarth today, smoother trip than the other day.

Few days later back in Portishead. oh boy what a fab time I have had. I love the skipper & his wife. When do we sail next..

Sadly, Jess our cat passed away in September, though he had a good long happy life and sailed the seas with us ....
